        Introduced  by  Sen.  GALLIVAN  --  (at  request of the Office of Victim
          Services) -- read twice and ordered printed, and when  printed  to  be
          committed to the Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction
 
        AN  ACT  to  amend the executive law, in relation to the eligibility for
          reimbursement of burial expenses
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Paragraph (d) of subdivision 1 of section 624 of the execu-
     2  tive  law,  as amended by chapter 427 of the laws of 1999, is amended to
     3  read as follows:
     4    (d) any person or business represented by a person who has paid for or
     5  incurred the burial expenses of a victim who died as a direct result  of
     6  such crime, except such person shall not be eligible to receive an award
     7  for other than burial expenses unless otherwise eligible under paragraph
     8  (a), (b) or (c) of this subdivision;
     9    §  2.  This  act  shall take effect immediately and shall apply to all
    10  claims filed on or after it shall have become a law.
