        AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to enacting "Averyana's law"
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  This  act  shall be known and may be cited as "Averyana's
     2  law".
     3    § 2. Section 606 of the tax law is amended by adding a new  subsection
     4  (uu) to read as follows:
     5    (uu)  Credit  for installation of smoke detectors.  Any resident owner
     6  of real property as defined in section one hundred two of the real prop-
     7  erty tax law shall be allowed a credit against the tax otherwise imposed
     8  under this article in an amount equal to  the  cost  of  purchasing  and
     9  installing smoke detectors in his or her residence.
    10    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately and shall apply to taxable

    11  years beginning on or after January 1, 2012.
