        Introduced  by  Sen. VALESKY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Agriculture
 
        AN ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to  requir-
          ing  the  department  of  agriculture  and  markets  to evaluate their
          support of farmers age sixty-two years and older
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-

        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 16 of the agriculture and markets law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 47 to read as follows:
     3    47.  Evaluate,  in  conjunction  with  the state office for the aging,
     4  programs and services offered by the  department  to  ensure  that  they
     5  support  the needs of farmers, and other individuals engaged in agricul-
     6  ture, and the production,  processing,  marketing  and  distributing  of
     7  food,  who  are  also  seniors, which shall mean an individual sixty-two
     8  years of age or older.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
