AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to parking near
a stop sign
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Subparagraph c of paragraph 2 of subdivision (a) of section
2 1202 of the vehicle and traffic law, as amended by chapter 679 of the
3 laws of 1970, is amended to read as follows:
4 c. Within thirty feet upon the approach to any flashing signal, stop
5 or yield sign or traffic-control signal located at the side of the road-
6 way, unless a different distance is indicated by official signs, mark-
7 ings or parking meters. The commissioner shall ensure that notification
8 of the distance requirement established by this section is conspicuously
9 posted beneath any stop sign posted on a state highway;
10 § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
11 it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the commissioner of
12 motor vehicles may begin the installation of any signs required as a
13 result of this act.
