to requiring marinas to sell ethanol free gasoline
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1 is amended to require the sale of ethanol free gasoline at
marinas.
JUSTIFICATION:
When ethanol supplemented gasoline sits unused for extended periods of
time, the gasoline and ethanol components separate. Subsequent use of
the fuel can seriously damage the engine. Usually, cars are operated
frequently and, thus, are not affected. However, boats often sit idol
for weeks or months at a time, and are therefore at risk. States such as
FL and VA allow marinas to sell gas without the ethanol additive.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have
become a law.

AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to requiring mari-
nas to sell ethanol free gasoline
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
2 199-o to read as follows:
3 § 199-o. Ethanol free gasoline sold at marinas. Notwithstanding any
4 other provision of law, any filling station as defined in subdivision
5 six of section two hundred eighty-two of the tax law located within a
6 marina, may make motor fuel that does not contain ethanol available for
7 sale.
8 § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
9 have become a law.
