TITLE OF BILL:
 
An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to notifying
persons who renew their license of new traffic related laws
 
 
PURPOSE:
 
This bill notifies an individual at the time that they renew their driv-
er licenses about new traffic-related laws that went into effect within
12 months of the license renewal.
 
 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
 
Section one amends Subdivision 6 of section 502 of the vehicle and traf-
fic law by adding a new paragraph (c).
 
Section two sets forth the effective date.

 
JUSTIFICATION:
 
Drivers are required to be aware of all traffic-related laws. Hectic
daily life can prevent drivers from remaining up to date about the
latest traffic laws. Disseminating information about new traffic laws
enacted within 12 months of the date of license renewals will ensure
that drivers remain knowledgeable and will help to maintain safety on
the roads.
