  TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 683 of the laws of 2023 amending the environ- mental conservation law relating to an urban deer management pilot program, in relation to the effectiveness thereof   PURPOSE:: This bill would extend the urban deer management pilot program due to the effectiveness thereof.   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:: Section 1: extends the pilot program to six years. Section 2: establishes the effective date immediately.   JUSTIFICATION:: Extends activities for deer culling that have provided safe, humane, and effective means of minimizing risks to human health and safety posed by deer. These practices have mitigated deer related vehicle accidents and reduced deer populations in localized areas in ways that are considerate of environmental, human, ecological health and property.   LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:: 2022-2023: A8526   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:: To be determined.   EFFECTIVE DATE:: This act shall take effect immediately.

HUNTER -- read once and referred to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT to amend chapter 683 of the laws of 2023 amending the environ- mental conservation law relating to an urban deer management pilot program, in relation to the effectiveness thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 6 of chapter 683 of the laws of 2023 amending the 2 environmental conservation law relating to an urban deer management 3 pilot program, is amended to read as follows: 4 § 6. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed- 5 ing the date on which it shall have become a law and shall expire and be 6 deemed repealed [three] six years after such date. 7 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD13478-01-5
