TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the cannabis law, in relation to requiring the develop-
ment and implementation of a comprehensive education campaign on the
dangers of cannabinoid use
 
PURPOSE:
Requires development and implementation of a comprehensive education
campaign regarding the dangers of cannabinoid use
 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Section 1. Section 19 of the cannabis law is amended.
Section 2: Identifies effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill would require the Office of Cannabis Management, in consulta-
tion with, the Commissioners of the Department of Health, the Office of
Addiction Services and Supports, and the Office of Mental Health, to
develop and implement a comprehensive public health monitoring, surveil-
lance and education campaign regarding the legalization of adult-use
cannabis, the impact of cannabis use on public health and safety, as
well as general education to the public about the cannabis laws. Educa-
tion is fundamental, to public health. Health education can promote
health equity, safer consumption of cannabis and public transparency of
current cannabis laws.
