TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend part JJ of chapter 57 of the laws of 2025, amending the
public health law relating to reporting pregnancy losses and clarifying
which agencies are responsible for such reports, in relation to making
technical corrections related thereto
 
PURPOSE:
Makes technical corrections to part JJ of Chapter 57 of the laws of
2025, relating to pregnancy loss reporting.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Amends section 9 of part JJ of chapter 57 of the laws of
2025,to change the effective date to state the bill will be deemed to
have been in full force and effect on and after April 1, 2025 as long as
section three of this act takes effect March 30, 2027.
Section 2: This act shall take effect immediately
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill will amend chapter 57 of the laws of 2025which reformed preg-
nancy loss reporting procedures and reduced reporting obligations to
protect patient privacy and lessen administrative burden on providers.
This bill amends the effective date to correct when provisions of the
law go into effect. Specifically, these amendments state that section
three, which requires reporting of certain pregnancy loss to be done
electronically, will take effect October 1, 2026.
