Specifies that teachers, teacher aides, and teacher assistants that work with children with a disability, and who are employed by schools commonly referred to as 4410 schools and 853 schools, shall be included in the excessive teacher turnover prevention program.

AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to specifying that
certain teachers, teacher aides, and teacher assistants shall be
included in the excessive teacher turnover prevention program
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 4411
2 to read as follows:
3 § 4411. Inclusion in excessive teacher turnover prevention program. 1.
4 For the purposes of this section, the term "covered school" shall mean a
5 school or preschool receiving funding under section forty-four hundred
6 ten of this article for the provision of special education, as defined
7 by subdivision one of section forty-four hundred one of this article,
8 and shall include private schools established under chapter eight
9 hundred fifty-three of the laws of nineteen hundred seventy-six.
10 2. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, rule or regulation, the
11 department's excessive teacher turnover prevention program shall include
12 support for teachers, teacher aides, and teacher assistants whose duties
13 include working with children with a disability, and who are employed by
14 a covered school.
15 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
