        Introduced  by  M.  of  A.  P. CARROLL  -- read once and referred to the
          Committee on Housing
 
        AN ACT to direct the division of housing and community renewal conduct a
          study on the demographics of tenants living in rent-stabilized  apart-
          ments  in  Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, and in the City
          of Kingston; and provides for the repeal of such provisions upon expi-
          ration thereof

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  1.  The  division  of housing and community renewal shall
     2  conduct a study on the demographics of tenants living in rent-stabilized
     3  apartments in Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester  Counties,  and  in  the
     4  City of Kingston. The report shall report the following demographics:
     5    (a) income;
     6    (b) race;
     7    (c) ethnicity;
     8    (d) the ages of the residents of the apartment;
     9    (e) the gender or genders of the residents of the apartment;
    10    (f) whether children are in the apartment, and, if so, the ages of the
    11  children; and
    12    (g)  the  length  of  tenancy  within the apartment at the time of the
    13  study.
    14    2. Results of the study shall be reported by county or city, as appli-
    15  cable.
    16    3. Upon the conclusion of the  study,  the  division  of  housing  and
    17  community  renewal  shall  issue a report on the results of the study to
    18  the governor, the speaker of the assembly, the  temporary  president  of
    19  the  senate,  and  the  chairs  of  the senate housing, construction and
    20  community development committee and the assembly committee on housing.
    21    § 2. This act shall take effect January 1, 2027, and shall expire  and
    22  be  deemed  repealed  thirty  days  after  the  delivery  of  the report
    23  described in section one of this act. The commissioner of  the  division
    24  of  housing  and  community  renewal  shall  notify the legislative bill
    25  drafting commission upon the occurrence of the delivery  of  the  report

     1  described  in  section  one of this act in order that the commission may
     2  maintain an accurate and timely effective data base of the official text
     3  of the laws of the state of New York in furtherance of effectuating  the
     4  provisions  of section 44 of the legislative law and section 70-b of the
     5  public officers law.
