        AN  ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to dedicating a portion of
          the state highway system to Civil War Veteran John B. Nichols
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 345-e to
     2  read as follows:
     3    §  345-e. Portion of the state highway system to be dedicated to Civil
     4  War Veteran John B. Nichols. The bridge  on  state  route  five  hundred
     5  thirty-one,  crossing  over  route two hundred fifty-nine, also known as
     6  South Union Street, in the town of Ogden, county  of  Monroe,  shall  be
     7  dedicated to Civil War Veteran John B. Nichols.
     8    §  2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
     9  lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state  highway  system
    10  as  dedicated  pursuant  to  section one of this act, provided that such
    11  signage shall state "Bridge  Dedicated  to  Civil  War  Veteran  John  B
    12  Nichols".  However,  to  avoid  confusion  and  to  limit  any  possible
    13  disruption of commerce, the dedication called for  pursuant  to  section
    14  one  of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name
    15  of such bridge shall not be changed as a result of this act.
    16    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
