          read once and referred to the Committee on Energy
 
        AN ACT directing the New York  state  energy  research  and  development
          authority to conduct a feasibility study on sewage thermal energy
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The New York state energy research and development authori-
     2  ty, in conjunction with the department  of  environmental  conservation,
     3  shall  conduct  a feasibility study and prepare a report on the benefits
     4  and implementation of sewage thermal energy. Such study will analyze the
     5  potential impacts and costs of sewage thermal energy.
     6    § 2. Within one year of the effective date of this act, the  New  York
     7  state  energy research and development authority shall issue a report of
     8  the findings of the feasibility study to  the  governor,  the  temporary
     9  president of the senate and the speaker of the assembly.
    10    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
