AN ACT in relation to authorizing the town of Huntington to alienate and
discontinue the use of certain parklands to the Huntington African
American Museum
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Subject to the provisions of this act, the town of Hunting-
2 ton, county of Suffolk, is hereby authorized, acting by and through its
3 governing body, and upon such terms and conditions as determined by such
4 governing body, to discontinue the use as parkland and alienate the
5 lands described in section three of this act, to the Huntington African
6 American Museum for the purpose of displaying exhibits and holding
7 events.
8 § 2. The authorization contained in section one of this act shall only
9 be effective on the condition that the town of Huntington dedicate an
10 amount equal to or greater than the fair market value of the parklands
11 being alienated pursuant to section one of this act towards the acquisi-
12 tion of new parklands and/or capital improvements to existing park and
13 recreational facilities.
14 § 3. The parkland authorized by section one of this act to be discon-
15 tinued as parkland is described as follows:
16 ALL that certain plot, piece or parcel of land situate, lying and being
17 in the Town of Huntington, County of Suffolk and State of New York,
18 being more particularly bounded and described as follows:
19 BEGINNING at a point on the northerly side of Pulaski Road at or near
20 its intersection with the westerly side of Park Avenue;
21 RUNNING THENCE along the northerly side of Pulaski Road, N 60°01'00" W,
22 a distance of 525.72 feet to a point;
23 THENCE along land now or formerly of Huntington Country Life, Inc., N
24 29°59'00" W, a distance of 778.87 feet to a point;

1 THENCE along the arc of a curve radius 332.33 feet bearing to the left a
2 distance of 137.59 feet to a point on the southerly side of East Fifth
3 Street;
4 THENCE along the southerly side of East Fifth Street and/or Grandview
5 Avenue, N 44°41'50" E, a distance of 561.69 feet to a point at or near
6 the northerly side of Park Avenue;
7 THENCE continuing along the westerly side of Park Avenue, S 44°34'58" E,
8 a distance of 31.05 feet to a point;
9 THENCE continuing along the westerly side of Park Avenue along the arc
10 of a curve radius 215.58 feet bearing to the right a distance of 196.38
11 feet to a point;
12 THENCE continuing along the westerly side of Park Avenue, S 37°59'15" W,
13 a distance of 585.56 feet to a point;
14 THENCE continuing along the westerly side of Park Avenue, S 30°17'01" E,
15 a distance of 96.49 feet to a point.
16 THENCE continuing along the westerly side of Park Avenue, S 15°01'00" W,
17 a distance of 30.87 feet to the point or place of BEGINNING.
18 Containing 9.733 acres.
19 § 4. In the event that the town of Huntington received any funding
20 support or assistance from the federal government for the purchase,
21 maintenance, or improvement of the parklands set forth in section three
22 of this act, the discontinuance and alienation of such parklands author-
23 ized by the provisions of this act shall not occur until the town of
24 Huntington has complied with any federal requirements pertaining to the
25 alienation or conversion of parklands, including satisfying the secre-
26 tary of the interior that the alienation or conversion complies with all
27 conditions which the secretary of the interior deems necessary to assure
28 the substitution of other lands shall be equivalent in fair market value
29 and usefulness to the lands being alienated or converted.
30 § 5. This act shall take effect immediately.
