          read once and referred to the Committee on Economic Development
 
        AN ACT to amend the cannabis law, in  relation  to  prohibiting  copycat
          cannabis products
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The cannabis law is amended by adding a new section 86-a to
     2  read as follows:
     3    § 86-a. Prohibition on copycat products. 1. No person,  firm,  associ-
     4  ation  or  corporation  shall  within  this state manufacture, compound,
     5  brew, distill, produce, process,  pack,  transport,  possess,  sell,  or
     6  offer  or  expose  for sale a cannabis product, or packaging or labeling
     7  for a cannabis product, that is substantially similar to  or  likely  to
     8  create confusion with a non-cannabis product.
     9    2.  The  board shall promulgate all rules or regulations necessary for
    10  the implementation of this section.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
