AN ACT to amend the executive law and the administrative code of the
city of New York, in relation to the adoption of the Mass Timber
International Building Code (IBC) Standard Type IV-A, IV-B, and IV-C
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 378 of the executive law is amended by adding a new
2 subdivision 1-b to read as follows:
3 1-b. Standards for the construction of all new buildings and for the
4 construction or renovation of existing buildings which adopts the Mass
5 Timber International Building Code (IBC) Standard Type IV-A, IV-B, and
6 IV-C.
7 § 2. Section 28-701.1 of the administrative code of the city of New
8 York, as added by local law number 33 of the city of New York for the
9 year 2007, is amended to read as follows:
10 §28-701.1 Update. No later than the third year after the effective
11 date of this section 701.1 and every third year thereafter, the commis-
12 sioner shall submit to the city council proposed amendments that [he or
13 she] such commissioner determines should be made to this code to bring
14 it up to date with the latest edition of the International Building Code
15 or otherwise modify the provisions thereof. In addition, prior to the
16 submission of such proposal to the city council, such proposal shall be
17 submitted to an advisory committee established by the commissioner
18 pursuant to this title for review and comment. No later than January
19 first, two thousand twenty-eight the commissioner shall submit to the
20 city council proposed amendments which provide for the adoption of the
21 Mass Timber International Building Code (IBC) Standard Type IV-A, IV-B,
22 and IV-C.
23 § 3. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
24 have become a law.
