AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to board of elections
reports
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The opening paragraph of paragraph (b) of subdivision 4 of
2 section 3-212 of the election law, as amended by chapter 79 of the laws
3 of 1992, is amended to read as follows:
4 Said annual report, as required by paragraph (a) of this subdivision,
5 shall include a detailed description of existing programs designed to
6 enhance voter registration. Such report shall include a voter registra-
7 tion action plan which details the various activities and programs of
8 each board, including a description of those steps which shall be taken
9 in the future to increase registration opportunities, especially for
10 those identifiable groups of persons historically underrepresented on
11 the rolls of registered voters; and coordinate voter education programs
12 with school districts, colleges and universities within the board's
13 jurisdiction including voter registration of qualified applicants and
14 instructional or extracurricular activities promoting participation in
15 the electoral process. Such report shall further include the number of
16 registration forms distributed to and returned by each agency assisting
17 with voter registration pursuant to section 5-211 of this chapter.
18 Personally identifiable information pertaining to the assisted regis-
19 trants shall not be collected or included in the report.
20 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
