        Introduced  by  M.  of A. MAHER, E. BROWN, BENDETT, DeSTEFANO, LEMONDES,
          BRABENEC, McDONOUGH -- read once and  referred  to  the  Committee  on
          Codes
 
        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  criminal procedure law, in relation to granting
          peace officer status to uniformed court officers in the town of  Mont-
          gomery

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 2.10 of the criminal procedure law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 88 to read as follows:
     3    88.  Employees  of the town court of the town of Montgomery serving as
     4  uniformed court officers at such town  court;  provided,  however,  that
     5  nothing in this subdivision shall be deemed to authorize such officer to
     6  carry,  possess,  repair  or dispose of a firearm unless the appropriate
     7  license therefor has been issued pursuant to section 400.00 of the penal
     8  law.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
