Designates campuses which are operated by the state university of New York with at least sixteen thousand enrolled students and an on campus dormitory as early voting sites and polling sites; provides that such designation requirements shall not apply where an early voting site or polling site is already designated within one mile of the geographic boundaries of such campus.

AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to designating certain
state university campuses as early voting sites and polling sites
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 4-104 of the election law is amended by adding a
2 new subdivision 5-b to read as follows:
3 5-b. Whenever a campus which is operated by the state university of
4 New York and has an enrollment of at least sixteen thousand students and
5 an on campus dormitory, a polling place designated for registrants on
6 such campus shall be at a location approved by such college or universi-
7 ty; provided, however, that the requirements of this subdivision shall
8 not apply where a polling place is already designated within one mile of
9 the geographic boundaries of such campus.
10 § 2. The election law is amended by adding a new section 8-606 to read
11 as follows:
12 § 8-606. Early voting on state university campuses. Each campus which
13 is operated by the state university of New York and which has an enroll-
14 ment of at least sixteen thousand students and an on campus dormitory
15 shall have an early voting site on such campus; provided, however, that
16 the requirements of this section shall not apply where an early voting
17 site is already designated within one mile of the geographic boundaries
18 of such campus.
19 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
