          tee on Health
 
        AN ACT to amend the public health law,  in  relation  to  requiring  the
          commissioner  of  health  to conduct a study on banning private equity
          ownership in hospice care
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  The  public health law is amended by adding a new section
     2  4016 to read as follows:
     3    § 4016. Study on private equity ownership  in  hospice  care.  1.  The
     4  commissioner,  in  consultation  with  the  superintendent  of financial
     5  services, shall conduct  a  study  considering  banning  private  equity
     6  ownership in hospice care in the state.
     7    2.  Not  later  than  February  first,  two thousand twenty-seven, the
     8  commissioner shall submit a report on the results of such study  to  the
     9  assembly,  the  senate,  and  the governor and make such report publicly
    10  available on the department's website.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
