AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to eliminating the ability
of judicial candidates for office who are enrolled in a particular
party to automatically be allowed to run as a candidate in another
party's primary election
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 6-120 of the election law, as
2 amended by chapter 373 of the laws of 1978, is amended to read as
3 follows:
4 4. This section shall not apply to a political party designating or
5 nominating candidates for the first time[,] or to candidates nominated
6 by party caucus[, nor to candidates for judicial offices].
7 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
