        AN  ACT  to amend the education law, in relation to allowing for reason-
          able accommodations for the examination portion of licensure  require-
          ments  to  become  a social worker for individuals for whom English is
          not their primary language

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Paragraph  (d)  of  subdivision  1 of section 7704 of the
     2  education law, as added by chapter 420 of the laws of 2002,  is  amended
     3  to read as follows:
     4    (d)  Examination: pass an examination satisfactory to the board and in
     5  accordance with the commissioner's regulations. Any organization permit-
     6  ted by the department to offer the  licensing  examination  shall  allow
     7  reasonable  accommodations  for applicants for whom English is not their
     8  primary language and a test in their primary language is not available;
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
