        Introduced  by M. of A. DURSO -- read once and referred to the Committee
          on Mental Health
 
        AN ACT directing the office of mental health to conduct a study  on  the
          mental  health  and prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder among
          corrections officers and other prison workers; and providing  for  the
          repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. 1. The office of mental health shall conduct a study on the
     2  mental health and prevalence of  post-traumatic  stress  disorder  among
     3  corrections officers and other prison workers in the state.
     4    2. Within one year after the effective date of this act, the office of
     5  mental  health  shall  prepare and submit to the governor, the temporary
     6  president of the senate, the speaker of the assembly, the minority lead-
     7  er of the senate and the  minority  leader  of  the  assembly  a  report
     8  containing  the  study's findings and recommendations for legislative or
     9  administrative action that can be undertaken in addressing post-traumat-
    10  ic stress disorder and other  mental  health  issues  among  corrections
    11  officers and other prison workers in the state.
    12    §  2.  This  act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be
    13  deemed repealed two years after such date.
