        AN  ACT to amend the civil practice law and rules, in relation to estab-
          lishing venue in actions to recover student debt
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. Section 503 of the civil practice law and rules is amended
     2  by adding a new subdivision (g) to read as follows:
     3    (g) Student debt. In an action to  recover  tuition,  fees,  room  and
     4  board, educational benefit payments, student loans, or other such charg-
     5  es incurred by a student in furtherance of such student's education owed
     6  to the state of New York, the place of trial shall be the residence of a
     7  defendant,  if  one resides within the state, or, in other cases, as set
     8  forth in this article.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
