        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  correction  law, in relation to certain persons
          received into the custody of the department of corrections and  commu-
          nity supervision
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 71 of the correction law is amended by adding a new
     2  subdivision 9 to read as follows:
     3    9. When a person is committed to the custody  of  the  department  and
     4  such  person  has  a previous history of being in the foster care system
     5  pursuant to the social services law the department shall obtain a record
     6  of such foster care including but not limited to what  age  such  person
     7  entered  foster  care  and for what period of time such person was under
     8  such care. A copy of such records shall be made available and  delivered
     9  to  any  correctional  facility  where  such  person  is incarcerated. A
    10  correctional facility for purposes of this subdivision shall  include  a
    11  juvenile detention facility.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
