WRIGHT -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the state law, in relation to a state flag for raising awareness of Black liberation The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The state law is amended by adding a new section 93 to read 2 as follows: 3 § 93. State flag for raising awareness of Black liberation. The "June- 4 teenth flag" shall be the official state flag for raising awareness of 5 the history of slavery, the struggles African Americans have faced, and 6 the ongoing fight for equity today. The commissioner of general services 7 shall establish a protocol for the flying of such flag. 8 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
