        AN ACT to amend chapter 296 of the laws of 1992 incorporating the Rescue
          Volunteer  and  Exempt  Firemen's  Benevolent  Association  Inc.,  and
          providing  for  its  powers  and duties, in relation to the purpose of
          such corporation and the use of certain tax monies received
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. Section 3 of chapter 296 of the laws of 1992 incorporating
     2  the Rescue Volunteer and Exempt Firemen's Benevolent  Association  Inc.,
     3  and providing for its powers and duties is amended to read as follows:
     4    §  3. Purposes. The purposes of such corporation shall be: the mainte-
     5  nance of suitable headquarters for the  promotion  of  fraternal  inter-
     6  course  among  the  members  of such corporation[,]; the relief, aid and
     7  assistance of such members and their families who are disabled,  injured
     8  or indigent [and], regardless of if such injury or disability was caused
     9  by  the  performance of their duties; the promotion and safeguard of the
    10  welfare of [the volunteer fire service] such members and their families;
    11  to provide for the health and safety of such members; and to enhance the
    12  morale of such members by providing social and  recreational  activities
    13  for  such members and the promotion of the volunteer fire service within
    14  the territory protected by the corporation.
    15    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
