AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
the state highway system to Port Authority Police Officer Arthur M.
Ansert Jr.
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-s to
2 read as follows:
3 § 344-s. Portion of the state highway system to be dedicated to Port
4 Authority Police Officer Arthur M. Ansert Jr. All that portion of the
5 state highway system constituting the bridge on the South Service Road,
6 between Federal Circle and the Perimeter Road Overpass, crossing over
7 the Van Wyck Expressway in the neighborhood of Jamaica, county of
8 Queens, shall be dedicated to Port Authority Police Officer Arthur M.
9 Ansert Jr.
10 § 2. The commissioner of transportation, in consultation with the
11 executive director of the port authority of New York and New Jersey,
12 shall provide for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing
13 of the state highway system as dedicated pursuant to section one of this
14 act, provided that such signing shall state "Bridge Dedicated to Port
15 Authority Police Officer Arthur M Ansert Jr". However, to avoid
16 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the dedi-
17 cation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of
18 ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be
19 changed as a result of this act.
20 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
