AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to dedicating a portion of
the state highway system to "Westchester Purple Heart Recipients"
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 342-aaa
2 to read as follows:
3 § 342-aaa. Portion of the state highway system to be dedicated to
4 "Westchester Purple Heart Recipients". All that portion of the state
5 highway system constituting state route thirty-five beginning at the
6 intersection of state route thirty-five and United States route two
7 hundred two, continuing in a generally easterly direction, and terminat-
8 ing at the intersection of state route thirty-five and state route one
9 hundred in the town of Somers, county of Westchester, shall be dedicated
10 to "Westchester Purple Heart Recipients".
11 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
12 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
13 as dedicated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid
14 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the dedi-
15 cation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of
16 ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be
17 changed as a result of this act.
18 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
