AN ACT to amend chapter 658 of the laws of 1991 establishing a library
district in the village of Mamaroneck, Westchester county, in relation
to the number of members of the board of trustees
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Paragraph c of subdivision 1 of section 2 of chapter 658 of
2 the laws of 1991 establishing a library district in the village of
3 Mamaroneck, Westchester county is amended to read as follows:
4 c. The election of [eleven] no less than five and no more than fifteen
5 trustees as hereinafter provided.
6 § 2. Section 3 of chapter 658 of the laws of 1991 establishing a
7 library district in the village of Mamaroneck, Westchester county is
8 amended to read as follows:
9 § 3. Organization and structure. The Mamaroneck public library
10 district shall be managed, operated and controlled by a board of trus-
11 tees consisting of [eleven] no less than five and no more than fifteen
12 members as prescribed by section 260 of the education law. These trus-
13 tees shall at the first regular meeting of the board determine by lot
14 the year in which each of their terms of office expire, and the terms
15 shall expire as follows: after one year- three trustees; after two
16 years- four trustees; after three years- four trustees. As vacancies
17 occur, trustees shall be elected at the annual election herein provided
18 for to serve for three year terms by the voters of the library district
19 hereby created, with each such trustee eligible to serve for a maximum
20 of three consecutive terms. Each term shall commence on the first day of
21 June next following the election. Only qualified voters of the district
22 shall be eligible for election to the board of trustees. The board of

1 trustees at its first meeting each year shall elect or appoint a presi-
2 dent and vice-president who shall be members of the board and clerk,
3 treasurer and other such officers as they deem necessary. If the board
4 so determines, the offices of clerk and treasurer may be held by indi-
5 viduals who are not members of the board of trustees and, in that event,
6 such officers may, if the board so determines, receive compensation as
7 fixed by resolution of the board.
8 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
