        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing a licensed
          pharmacist  to  administer  a  United States Food and Drug Administra-
          tion-approved reversible progestin-only contraceptive injection

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Subdivision  8  of  section 6801 of the education law, as
     2  amended by chapter 746 of the laws  of  2023,  is  amended  to  read  as
     3  follows:
     4    8.  A  licensed  pharmacist  within their lawful scope of practice may
     5  administer injectable medications and medications required for emergency
     6  treatment of anaphylaxis related to  such  administration,  pursuant  to
     7  section  six  thousand eight hundred two of this article, for the treat-
     8  ment of mental health and substance use disorder or administer a  United
     9  States  Food  and Drug Administration-approved reversible progestin-only
    10  contraceptive injection, as prescribed or ordered by a licensed prescri-
    11  ber, acting within their scope of practice in this state and in  accord-
    12  ance  with regulations, including but not limited to regulations promul-
    13  gated by the commissioner in consultation with any other state agencies,
    14  as necessary.
    15    § 2. This act shall take effect one year after it shall have become  a
    16  law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any
    17  rule  or  regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its
    18  effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such
    19  effective date.
