AN ACT to amend the cannabis law, in relation to prohibiting retail
licensees from placing a storefront within five hundred feet of
certain areas
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Subdivision 6 of section 72 of the cannabis law is amended
2 to read as follows:
3 6. No cannabis retail licensee shall locate a storefront within five
4 hundred feet of a school grounds as such term is defined in the educa-
5 tion law, a child day care center as defined in paragraph (c) of subdi-
6 vision one of section three hundred ninety of the social services law, a
7 public park or a playground, or within two hundred feet of a house of
8 worship. For purposes of this subdivision, a "public park" shall mean
9 any park, playground, or other recreational area under the jurisdiction
10 of the state or any of its political subdivisions, that is accessible to
11 the general public and designated as a park by the relevant governmental
12 authority.
13 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
