        AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to penalties for a
          lodging  facility  that  fails to comply with certain requirements for
          providing  information  concerning  services  for  human   trafficking
          victims

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 206-f of the general business  law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 3 to read as follows:
     3    3.  Any lodging facility that fails to comply with the requirements of
     4  this section shall be liable for a civil penalty of five hundred dollars
     5  for a first  offense  and  one  thousand  dollars  for  each  subsequent
     6  offense.    In addition to any other action authorized by law, including
     7  one to enjoin further violation of the provisions of this  section,  the
     8  attorney  general  may  bring an action or special proceeding in supreme
     9  court to recover any civil penalties assessed pursuant to  this  section
    10  against  a lodging facility if a local or state agency with authority to
    11  regulate the business has:
    12    (a) provided the lodging facility with reasonable notice of noncompli-
    13  ance, which informs the business or establishment that it is subject  to
    14  a  civil penalty if it does not correct the violation within thirty days
    15  from the date that the notice is sent to the lodging facility; and
    16    (b) verified that the violation was not corrected within  the  thirty-
    17  day period described in paragraph (a) of this subdivision.
    18    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
    19  have become a law.
