Directs the department of health to develop an informational pamphlet concerning menopause, which shall include information concerning the stages of menopause, the signs and side effects of menopause, and options for the management and treatment of menopause; requires that such informational pamphlet be made available on the department's website and available for order as a printed deliverable; requires practitioners to make such informational pamphlet available to patients.

AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to directing the
department of health to create an informational pamphlet concerning
menopause
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The public health law is amended by adding a new section
2 267-c to read as follows:
3 § 267-c. Information concerning menopause. 1. The department shall
4 develop an informational pamphlet concerning menopause. Such pamphlet
5 shall include, but shall not be limited to, information concerning:
6 (a) the stages of menopause;
7 (b) the signs and side effects of menopause; and
8 (c) options for the management and treatment of menopause.
9 2. Such informational pamphlet shall be written in layperson's
10 language and shall be made available in English and the six most common
11 non-English languages spoken by individuals with limited English profi-
12 ciency in New York state as based on the most recent census.
13 3. Such informational pamphlet shall be made available on the depart-
14 ment's website as a printable file and may also be made available for
15 order as a printed deliverable on the department's website.
16 4. Practitioners shall make such informational pamphlet available to
17 patients.
18 5. For purposes of this section, "practitioner" shall mean a health
19 care professional licensed, certified or otherwise authorized to prac-
20 tice under the education law, acting within their scope of practice.
21 § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
22 have become a law.
