AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to health care payment
amounts
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 3224-a of the insurance law is amended by adding a
2 new subsection (m) to read as follows:
3 (m)(1) Any insurance company which owns a health care provider, must
4 pay the health care provider it owns no more than the lowest amount paid
5 to any other insured health care provider for a comparable service.
6 (2) Any insurance company, which is owned by a health care provider,
7 may not pay the health care provider which owns the insurance company
8 more than it pays the lowest amount paid to any other insured health
9 care provider for a comparable service.
10 § 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall
11 have become a law.
