        AN  ACT  to amend the transportation law, in relation to authorizing the
          commissioner of transportation to request an extension  of  the  Clean
          Pass Program in the state
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 14 of the transportation law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 37 to read as follows:
     3    37. To the extent not inconsistent with federal law and regulation, to
     4  submit a formal request to the United States Department  of  Transporta-
     5  tion  and  any  other  relevant federal agency to seek the continuation,
     6  renewal, or extension of the Clean Pass Program  in  the  state  of  New
     7  York,  within  ninety days after the effective date of this subdivision.
     8  Such request shall include a summary of  the  environmental,  congestion
     9  mitigation,  and  transportation benefits of the program and may be made
    10  jointly with any other state agency or authority, as appropriate.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
