COLTON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Consumer Affairs and Protection AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to requiring that all motor vehicles sold at motor vehicle dealerships contain a spare tire The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section 2 396-pp to read as follows: 3 § 396-pp. Spare tire requirement. 1. All new and used motor vehicles 4 sold at motor vehicle dealerships shall include a spare tire compatible 5 with the motor vehicle sold which is at least a donut tire. Such spare 6 tire shall be properly secured to the motor vehicle in a manner that 7 prevents any damage to the motor vehicle. 8 2. For the purposes of this section, a "donut tire" is a temporary 9 smaller sized spare tire that should only be used temporarily, allowing 10 the vehicle to continue to be driven at reduced speeds for limited 11 distances. 12 § 2.
