        AN  ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to requiring that
          all motor vehicles sold at motor vehicle dealerships contain  a  spare
          tire
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
     2  396-pp to read as follows:
     3    § 396-pp. Spare tire requirement. 1. All new and used  motor  vehicles
     4  sold  at motor vehicle dealerships shall include a spare tire compatible
     5  with the motor vehicle sold which is at least a donut tire.  Such  spare
     6  tire  shall  be  properly  secured to the motor vehicle in a manner that
     7  prevents any damage to the motor vehicle.
     8    2. For the purposes of this section, a "donut  tire"  is  a  temporary
     9  smaller  sized spare tire that should only be used temporarily, allowing
    10  the vehicle to continue to be  driven  at  reduced  speeds  for  limited
    11  distances.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
