          on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions
 
        AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to free bus fare
          on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority omnibus service
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 1266 of the public authorities law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 20 to read as follows:
     3    20.  Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the authority and any
     4  of its subsidiary corporations shall establish and implement a free  bus
     5  fare  program  for seniors currently enrolled in a reduced fare program.
     6  The free bus fare program established and implemented pursuant  to  this
     7  subdivision shall be in operation during all hours in which such author-
     8  ity  provides omnibus services, and such program shall not be limited in
     9  operation to off-peak hours or to any  other  hours  designated  by  the
    10  authority  or  its subsidiary corporations. The chairman shall establish
    11  and implement all rules and regulations  necessary  to  effectuate  this
    12  subdivision.    For the purposes of this subdivision, a "senior" means a
    13  natural person sixty years of age or older.
    14    § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next  succeed-
    15  ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
