COMMEMORATING the Brooklyn Public Library Read Out
Loud! Summer Street Fair to be held on June 14, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
promote programs that encourage literacy, learning, and family
engagement across the diverse communities of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
traditions, this Legislative Body is proud to commemorate the Brooklyn
Public Library Read Out Loud! Summer Street Fair, hosted by the Brooklyn
Public Library's Paerdegat Branch, to be held on Saturday, June 14,
2025; and
WHEREAS, The Read Out Loud! initiative serves as a cornerstone of
the Brooklyn Public Library's mission to cultivate a lifelong love of
reading among children and families while bridging learning gaps during
the summer months; and
WHEREAS, The Read Out Loud! Summer Street Fair provides an engaging
and festive community gathering where families can enjoy live readings,
music, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, and access to valuable
literacy resources; and
WHEREAS, Events such as this highlight the essential role public
libraries play in fostering educational equity, imagination, and
curiosity in children of all ages, regardless of background; and
WHEREAS, The Paerdegat Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library
continues to serve as a vital neighborhood hub for learning, enrichment,
and community building, offering free and inclusive programs year-round
to residents of all generations; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend the staff,
volunteers, partners, and supporters of the Brooklyn Public Library and
the Paerdegat Branch for their dedication to literacy, access, and civic
engagement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the Brooklyn Public Library Read Out Loud! Summer Street
Fair; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Paerdegat Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library in
recognition of its contributions to educational and community
enrichment.
