HONORING David J. Balestrini upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Volunteer of the
Year Award at the 7th Annual Lake Placid Community
Day celebration on June 1, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
David J. Balestrini upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Volunteer of the Year Award at the 7th Annual Lake Placid Community
Day celebration on Sunday, June 1, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Lake Placid Community Day, a joint venture of the Lake
Placid/North Elba Community Development Commission and the Regional
Office of Sustainable Tourism, is a day that honors those who go above
and beyond to enhance the quality of life in the local community for
residents and visitors alike; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which David J. Balestrini has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, The desire to serve has always been strong for David J.
Balestrini, resulting in him becoming a founding member of Lake Placid
Cub Scout Pack 110 in 1998; throughout his tenure, he ranked to Cub
Master and Assistant Scout Master of Lake Placid Troop 110, and he was
responsible for leading weekly meetings and helping scouts promote to
Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, David J. Balestrini is a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry,
and he has utilized his skills and knowledge to uniquely serve his
neighbors; with his team, he has provided complimentary examinations and
dental sealants to countless kids through school visits and Free Sealant
Day during National Children's Dental Health Month, and he provided
affordable dental services to the Uihlein/Elderwood Care Facility from
1998 to 2024; and
WHEREAS, Further demonstrating his selfless spirit, David J.
Balestrini served on active duty in the United States Navy Dental Corp
taking care of active duty service members and their families from May
1989, to May 1992, and he was deployed to Saudi Arabia during the
Persian Gulf war in Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his lifetime of service to others, David J.
Balestrini has given his time and energies to countless organizations,
including the Lake Placid Lions Club, American Legion Post 326, Ironman
Lake Placid, and the Lake Placid Outing Club, which he oversaw as
chairman of the board from 2015 to 2022; and
WHEREAS, David J. Balestrini's dental practice has supported several
local organizations such as the NYSEF, Lake Placid Center for the Arts,
The Young and Fun Series at LPCA, Adirondack Health Foundation, Lake
Placid/North Elba Historical Society, Lake Placid Barbecue Fest, and
many other youth events and organizations throughout the area with
financial sponsorships, memberships, and general participation; and
WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as David J. Balestrini who uphold the
values of community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize
the best of humanity; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor David J. Balestrini upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award at the 7th Annual Lake
Placid Community Day celebration on June 1, 2025; and be it further
RESOLVED, That this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted
to David J. Balestrini.
