HONORING Parker Scanio upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Volunteer of the
Year Award at the 7th Annual Lake Placid Community
Day celebration on June 1, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Parker Scanio upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Volunteer of the Year Award at the 7th Annual Lake Placid Community Day
celebration on Sunday, June 1, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Lake Placid Community Day, a joint venture of the Lake
Placid/North Elba Community Development Commission and the Regional
Office of Sustainable Tourism, is a day that honors those who go above
and beyond to enhance the quality of life in the local community for
residents and visitors alike; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Parker Scanio has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, The desire to serve came early for Parker Scanio, resulting
in him accumulating 421 volunteer hours throughout his middle and high
school career, proving his ability to balance school commitments with
community service; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his years of service to others, Parker Scanio
has volunteered for the Ironman, Songs at Mirror Lake, book festivals,
movies for the Lions Club, LPCA theater camp, and various church events;
and
WHEREAS, As a natural leader, Parker Scanio has been entrusted with
several leadership positions in organizations he has joined, such as
president of the Blue Bomber Weekly News, senior patrol leader of Boy
Scouts, treasurer of Drama Club, and assistant director of a middle
school play; and
WHEREAS, For his senior capstone project, Parker Scanio noticed that
after the COVID-19 Pandemic, the local children's theater program had
ceased operations; with a desire to fill this void in the community,
Parker Scanio successfully directed the elementary school production of
Pinocchio, providing kids the opportunity to participate in theater; and
WHEREAS, Parker Scanio's school praises him for his willingness to
lend a helping hand when needed; his selfless demonstrations at a young
age are a testament to his future success and ongoing community
involvement; and
WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Parker Scanio who uphold the values of
community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the best
of humanity; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Parker Scanio upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Volunteer of the Year Award at the 7th Annual Lake Placid Community
Day celebration on June 1, 2025; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Parker Scanio.
