Senate Resolution No. 1068

        CONGRATULATING    Peyton    Mullin    of    Dundee
        Junior-Senior  High  School  upon  the  occasion  of
        capturing   the   2025   NYSPHSAA   Girls  Wrestling
        Championship title  in  the  235-pound  Division  on
        February 27, 2025
 
  WHEREAS,  Excellence  and  success  in  competitive  sports  can  be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play,  and  team  spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Athletic  competition  enhances  the  moral  and  physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing  them  for  the
future  by  instilling  in  them  the  value  of teamwork, encouraging a
standard  of  healthy  living,  imparting  a  desire  for  success,  and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
 
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud to congratulate
Peyton Mullin of Dundee Junior-Senior High School, upon the occasion  of
capturing  the  2025  NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling Championship title in the
235-pound Division, at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York,  on  Thursday,
February 27, 2025; and
 
  WHEREAS,   To   the   praise  and  applause  of  her  excited  fans,
number-one-seeded  sophomore,  Peyton  Mullin,   captured   her   second
championship;  this win capped an impressive season for the wrestler who
entered the tournament undefeated at 23-0; and
 
  WHEREAS, In the first round, Peyton Mullin defeated  the  number  16
seed  from Indian River out of Section Three 10-0, via a technical fall;
in the quarter-final round, she pinned the number nine seed from Section
Two's Averill Park by a pin in :29; and
 
  WHEREAS, In what may be  the  most  impressive  statistic  from  the
overall  tournament,  Peyton  Mullin  advanced to the State Championship
match by winning her semi-final contest against the number four seed out
of Section Six by a pin in just :08 seconds; and
 
  WHEREAS, In the final match of the night, Peyton Mullin  pinned  her
opponent,  who  was  the  number  six  seed out of Section Eight, in :24
seconds, finishing the season 27-0 and unscored upon; and
 
  WHEREAS, Additionally, Peyton  Mullin  has  displayed  her  athletic
talent in shot put, winning a Section V championship; and
 
  WHEREAS, The talent displayed by this athlete is due, in great part,
to  the  efforts  of an outstanding coach who has the ability to develop
potential into excellence; and
 
  WHEREAS, In a sport,  such  as  wrestling,  which  demands  athletic
prowess,  speed,  and  agility, Coach Sheldon Gibson worked hard to hone
the skills of this champion, teaching this outstanding  athlete  lessons
which  will prove invaluable both on and off the mat; now, therefore, be
it
 
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Peyton Mullin of Dundee Junior-Senior High School upon  the
occasion  of  capturing  the  2025 NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling Championship
title in the 235-pound Division on February 27, 2025; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That copies of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Peyton Mullin and Coach Sheldon Gibson.
