RECOGNIZING Shayna Blumenfeld for her exceptional
service to her community
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
recognize Shayna Blumenfeld for her exceptional service to her
community, to celebrated upon the occasion of her graduation from
Schreiber High School in Port Washington, New York on Thursday, June 26,
2025; and
WHEREAS, Shayna Blumenfeld began her work with Kyra's Champions-a
not for profit organization focused on stopping child abuse and child
murder through policy change-in junior high school; and
WHEREAS, The countless hours Shayna Blumenfeld has spent
volunteering with the organization have been meaningful and inspiring;
in association with Kyra's Champions, Shayna Blumenfeld has opened major
press conferences and rallies for Kyra's Law; has been featured on
PIX11, News 12, and Newsday; has testified before New York State
commissions on child abuse prevention; and has co-chaired high-profile
community initiatives with powerful public remarks; and
WHEREAS, An admirable voice for the voiceless, Shayna Blumenfeld has
been honored with multiple awards for activism and leadership, was named
one of Long Island's "Top 40 Under 40" by Blank Slate Media, and served
as the inspiration behind the Kyra's Champions Student Advocacy Program;
and
WHEREAS, Within every community, there are inevitably some
individuals who, by virtue of their energy, vision, and dedication,
command the greatest respect among their peers, colleagues, and
community at large; Shayna Blumenfeld is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend
individuals of outstanding character who have shown unwavering
initiative and commitment toward supporting and uplifting members of
their community, acting as role models of leadership to be emulated by
their peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize Shayna Blumenfeld for her exceptional service to her
community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Shayna Blumenfeld.
