HONORING Conway Beam Truck Group upon the occasion
of its 75th Anniversary
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Conway Beam Truck Group upon the occasion of its 75th Anniversary, to be
celebrated at an open house event on Tuesday, June 10, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Fred Beam and his son-in-law Elmer Conway incorporated Beam
Mack Sales and Service by purchasing the franchise for the Rochester
area from Mack, Inc.; the business officially opened in 1951; and
WHEREAS, With a storied history, in 1952, Wilcon Truck Rental was
incorporated to provide truck rentals and leases and was later renamed
to Conway Beam Leasing in 1976; and
WHEREAS, Three years later, in 1955, the company relocated from
University Avenue to a new facility on West Henrietta Road prior to its
expansion in 1962 to Elmira, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1974, Tom Conway entered the business full time, and in
1984, was named president of the company, becoming the third generation
to lead the business; and
WHEREAS, The franchise expanded in 1985 through the acquisition of
branches in Syracuse and Watertown, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, Conway Beam Leasing joins National Truck Leasing
System (NationaLease); and
WHEREAS, This renowned company is the recipient of the coveted Mack
Dealer of the Year Award; this honor was bestowed upon the company in
1993; and
WHEREAS, Experiencing much growth and change, in 2000, the company
divested the Carrier franchise line and added the Volvo franchise line
to the Rochester, Syracuse, and Watertown branches; and
WHEREAS, The company purchased Albee Truck Sales to acquire Empire
Bus Sales and a new Volvo territory in Elmira in 2006; this same year,
Tom Conway was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Truck Dealer
of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, Chelsea Conway-the 4th generation of leadership at
the company-is appointed CEO and Tom Conway became Chairman of the
Board; and
WHEREAS, The company acquired Buffalo Truck Center to expand Mack,
Volvo, Hino, Isuzu and leasing product lines in 2017, demonstrating its
continued commitment to growth and service to its community; and
WHEREAS, In 2020, the company changed its name to Conway Beam Truck
Group and launched a new branding campaign in addition to opening its
impeccable new facility in Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, The success of Conway Beam Truck Group is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its hardworking and dedicated owners and
staff, all of whom are considered integral parts of the success of the
company; their involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the business and
the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business, its contributions to the local
and state economies, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of
life in its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Conway Beam Truck Group upon the occasion of its 75th Anniversary;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Conway Beam Truck Group.
