Senate Resolution No. 1164

        COMMEMORATING  the  46th  Anniversary of Big Apple
        Music of Utica, New York
 
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to  recognize  the
achievements  of  those  individuals  and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the  entire
Empire State; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  Bolos Brothers, John and Mark, originally started Big
Apple Music with a $500 loan from their father  and  help  from  brother
Peter Bolos and their cousin Sami; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Within a few years of opening, Big Apple Music grew from a
humble inventory of a few guitars and car stereos to offering  home  and
car audio, drums and a wider range of guitars; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  1981, as Big Apple Music outgrew its original location
at 1906 Oriskany Boulevard in Utica, the store moved  next-door  to  the
Holland Farms Bakery, where the business really began to flourish; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Big  Apple  Music began offering more equipment, including
full PA systems; a larger variety of brands and styles  of  guitars  and
drums;  school  band  instruments;  a  full  assortment  of  home stereo
products; video products such as TVs, VCRs,  and  video  games;  and  an
increased number of car stereo equipment; and
 
  WHEREAS, In 1984, Big Apple Music moved to their current location in
what  is  now  the Big Apple Plaza on the corner of Commercial Drive and
Seneca Turnpike in New Hartford, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Peter Bolos bought into the business and eventually  bought
out his brother John in the mid-1980s; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Today,  Big  Apple  Music  offers  a  vast variety of car,
marine, home, and commercial audio, as well  as  lighting,  electronics,
and  musical  equipment;  the business also offers installation services
for homes, schools, restaurants, and churches; and
 
  WHEREAS, A true testament to its resilience  and  adaptability,  Big
Apple Music continues to evolve with the changing markets and now offers
New York State licensed security and surveillance installation services,
as  well  as  glass  tinting,  home  audio systems, remote car starters,
heated seat installations, and all styles of LED  lighting  and  vehicle
accessories--including,   but   not   limited   to,   those  for  boats,
RVs/campers, and all-terrain vehicles; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is  with  great  pleasure  that  this  Legislative  Body
acknowledge Big Apple Music and its contributions to the local and State
economies,  fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the sparkling
successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative   Body   commemorate   the   46th
Anniversary  of  Big  Apple  Music  of  Utica, New York and to wish this
 
business continued prosperity  in  its  vital  work  on  behalf  of  its
customers; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Big Apple Music.
