COMMENDING the ADA Celebration Committee for
Madison County, upon the occasion of hosting an
esteemed event, commemorating the 35th Anniversary
of the Signing of the Americans with Disabilities
Act, on July 25, 2025
WHEREAS, The State of New York recognizes the vital importance of
organizations that promote inclusivity, equality, and the protection of
civil rights for all individuals; and
WHEREAS, On July 26, 1990, President George H. W. Bush signed the
historic Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law, marking a
significant milestone in the ongoing struggle for disability rights and
equality; and
WHEREAS, A landmark piece of legislation, the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against individuals with
disabilities and promotes their full participation in all aspects of
society, including employment, public accommodations, transportation,
and telecommunications; and
WHEREAS, The ADA has had a profound impact on the lives of millions
of Americans, ensuring equal opportunities and removing barriers for
individuals with disabilities, enabling them to fully engage in
educational, employment, recreational, and social activities; and
WHEREAS, Having fostered a more accessible and inclusive society,
the ADA requires the implementation of reasonable accommodations, the
removal of architectural barriers, and the promotion of accessibility
standards in various sectors; and
WHEREAS, Madison County has long been committed to upholding the
principles enshrined in the ADA, advancing disability rights and
fostering an environment where individuals with disabilities can thrive,
contribute, and achieve their full potential; and
WHEREAS, Let us celebrate the achievements of the ADA, reflect on
the work that still lies ahead, and reaffirm our dedication to building
a society that recognizes the inherent worth and abilities of every
individual; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the ADA Celebration Committee for Madison County, upon the
occasion of hosting an esteemed event, commemorating the 35th
Anniversary of the Signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, on
July 25, 2025; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the ADA Celebration Committee for Madison County.
