COMMENDING Jim Clifford, owner and president of
Cliff's Local Market and Clifford Fuel Co. Inc.,
upon the occasion of his induction into the New York
Association of Convenience Stores New York State
Convenience Retail Hall of Fame
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Jim Clifford upon the occasion of his induction into the New
York Association of Convenience Stores (NYACS) New York State
Convenience Retail Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, NYACS is a trade organization representing more than 7,500
convenience stores and 127,000 employees across New York state; and
WHEREAS, Jim Clifford served on NYACS's board of directors from 1996
to 2014 and was a longtime member of its Legislative Committee, where he
was a fierce advocate for the group's policy agenda; and
WHEREAS, Cliff's Local Market has been a NYACS member since 1986 and
recently celebrated over 60 years in business; and
WHEREAS, Jim Clifford continues to honor the legacy of his father,
Jack Clifford, and now shares leadership of the company with his sons,
Jim and Mike; and
WHEREAS, Cliff's Local Market operates 22 convenience stores
throughout Central New York and has maintained a long-standing
commitment to community involvement, supporting numerous charities,
local events and nonprofit organizations; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges Jim Clifford and this exceptional business and its
contributions to the local and State economies, fully confident that it
will continue to enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus
far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jim Clifford upon the occasion of his induction into the New
York Association of Convenience Stores New York State Convenience Retail
Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jim Clifford.
