Senate Resolution No. 1272

        MOURNING   the   death  of  Theodore  Holt  Chase,
        distinguished citizen  and  devoted  member  of  his
        community
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens  of  the  State  of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Theodore Holt  Chase,  of  Lewisboro,  New  York,  died  on
Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the age of 93; and
 
  WHEREAS,   Theodore  "Ted"  Holt  Chase  was  born  in  Springfield,
Massachusetts; he was a graduate of Yale University and a United  States
Army veteran; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  1969, Theodore Holt Chase and his wife, Barbara, moved
to Goldens Bridge,  New  York,  where  the  couple  raised  their  three
children and became deeply involved in their community; and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  former  Deputy  Supervisor of the Town of Lewisboro and
longtime resident of Goldens Bridge, Theodore Holt Chase left  a  legacy
of tireless public service; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Theodore  Holt  Chase served four terms on the Town Board,
including  service  as  Deputy  Supervisor;  he  also  served  as   Fire
Commissioner  for  the  Goldens  Bridge Fire Department; in 1996, he was
named Lewisboro's Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce; and
 
  WHEREAS, After retiring from a career at IBM,  Theodore  Holt  Chase
continued  his  civic  work in Maryland, New York, where he and his wife
relocated; and
 
  WHEREAS, Missed by those who were fortunate to  know  him,  Theodore
Holt  Chase is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara "Bobbie" Chase;
his children, Eliza Chase Morton, Theodore Van Vleck Chase, and Susannah
Chase Sutley; his brother, Robert Chase;  six  grandchildren;  and  four
step-grandchildren; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Theodore Holt Chase leaves behind a legacy which  will  long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Theodore Holt Chase; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the family of Theodore Holt Chase.
