Senate Resolution No. 1279

        MOURNING   the   death  of  Jeffrey  Alan  Miller,
        distinguished citizen  and  devoted  member  of  his
        community
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens  of  the  State  of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, Jeffrey Alan  Miller,  of  Peekskill,  New  York,  died  on
Friday, June 6, 2025, at the age of 62; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Jeffrey  Alan  "Jeff"  Miller was born to Ray and Marianne
Miller; he was raised in Orange County, California; and
 
  WHEREAS, An avid international traveler, who spent time in  Belgium,
Germany,   and  his  beloved  France,  Jeffrey  Alan  Miller  ultimately
transplanted himself in New York State where he held jobs in  a  variety
of  fields,  including  information technology, internal communications,
and business transformation at Caring for the  Hungry  and  Homeless  of
Peekskill (CHHOP) where he worked until his death; and
 
  WHEREAS,   Jeffrey   Alan   Miller  was  a  singularly  accomplished
individual; he was fluent in several  languages,  including  French  and
German; and
 
  WHEREAS,   Jeffrey   Alan  Miller  earned  a  Bachelor  of  Arts  in
Communications from California State University Long Beach, a Master  of
Arts  in  Journalism,  Radio,  Television,  and English, and a Master of
Business Administration, with a 4.0 GPA, from Iona University; he  never
met a problem he wasn't interested in solving; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Known  to  his  devoted  friends  as parts Martha Stewart,
weather announcer, Parisian, technology genius,  and  music  aficionado,
and  one  of  the kindest, most gentle human beings, Jeffrey Alan Miller
was devoted to his family, calling  his  sister  daily  and  his  mother
weekly despite their geographic distance; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Jeffrey Alan Miller was an accomplished chef known for his
gourmet  salads  sprinkled  with  edible  flowers,  Duck  L'orange,  and
escargot;  he  designed  his  house  in  Peekskill,  adding his personal
touches to the garage so it appeared as though fish were  frolicking  in
the ocean during a rainstorm; his sanctuary was his home garden where he
spent hours creating unparalleled beauty; and
 
  WHEREAS, Jeffrey Alan Miller was integral in transforming the social
services organization, CHHOP, into a highly respected organization which
focused  on  equity  for the most vulnerable individuals; his skills and
talents in the workplace were many,  and  he  positively  affected  many
lives; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Missed  by  those  who were fortunate to know him, Jeffrey
Alan Miller is survived by his mother,  Marianne  Miller;  sister,  Lori
 
Miller;  niece,  Brenda  Miller, and her husband, Dave Koos; and nephew,
Jeffrey, and his spouse; he was predeceased by his father,  Ray  Miller;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Jeffrey Alan Miller leaves behind a legacy which  will  long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Jeffrey Alan Miller; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the family of Jeffrey Alan Miller.
