Senate Resolution No. 1283

        MOURNING   the   death  of  William  W.  McGreevy,
        distinguished veteran, revered citizen, and  devoted
        member of his community
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens  of  the  State  of  New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
 
  WHEREAS, William W. McGreevy of Carmel, New York, died on Wednesday,
August 6, 2025, at the age of 91; and
 
  WHEREAS, Born in the Bronx, New  York,  William  W.  McGreevy  later
became  employed  with the Verizon Corporation in White Plains, New York
for numerous years where he worked in management until  his  retirement;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  A  proud veteran, William W. McGreevy served in the United
States Army during the Korean  conflict;  his  military  service  was  a
testament to his dedication to his country and he carried the discipline
and  camaraderie  learned  through  his  military service throughout his
life; and
 
  WHEREAS, William W. McGreevy shared the pleasures of life  with  his
cherished wife, Ellen, whom he married on February 27, 1960; and
 
  WHEREAS, Family was of utmost importance to William W. McGreevy; the
core of his existence and his role as a husband, father, and grandfather
was where he found his greatest joy and fulfillment; and
 
  WHEREAS,  William  W.  McGreevy  loved  golf  and  sailing  with his
brother-law Frank on the Long Island sound; he  also  loved  dancing  at
parties and rooting for the New York Giants; and
 
  WHEREAS, William W. McGreevy distinguished himself in his profession
and  by  his  sincere  dedication  and  substantial  contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
 
  WHEREAS, William W. McGreevy's commitment to excellence  and  spirit
of  humanity  carried  over  into  all  fields  of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
 
  WHEREAS, William W. McGreevy is survived by  his  wife,  Ellen;  his
children,  Maryanne  and  John; grandchildren, Michael, Christina, Alec,
Elizabeth, and Katherine; and two great-grandsons, Cole and Shane; he is
predeceased by his son, William Jr.;  parents,  John  and  Loretta;  and
siblings, Christine, Jack, and Mary; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, William W. McGreevy leaves behind a legacy which  will  long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of William W. McGreevy; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of William W. McGreevy.
